Registered Nurse Supervisor - ICU  

Job Summary:
Responsible for organizing, supervising and directing the delivery of quality patient care and coordinating department based activities.  Supervises nursing personnel
on assigned unit/shift including:  interpreting department policies and procedures, participating in identification and investigation of problems.  Facilitates change 
and executes initiatives to achieve top percentile performance in patient safety, quality outcomes, and patient satisfaction rankings.  Leads cooperation with patient 
care team to maintain standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.  Complies with the California Nurse Practice Act, Article 2, Section 2725 of the 
Business and Professions Code.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages the delivery of patient care and workflow.
  • Leads collaboration with staff, ancillary personnel and physicians to problem solve patient care and unit issues.
  • Observes, implements and clarifies policies, procedures and regulations to facilitate operations that are consistent with organizational guidelines.
  • Identifies, initiates and executes changes needed in policy, procedure and practice.
  • Coordinates and facilitates admissions, transfers and discharges, upholding appropriate utilization standards.
  • Conducts performance improvement audits and directs team members in understanding the process
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of specific competencies and unit orientation program.
  • Ensures an adequate stock of supplies, evaluates par levels, and coordinates with ancillary departments for proper clinical operations.
  • Ensures proper and safe functioning of equipment to promote efficiency, health, comfort and safety of patients and staff.
  • Ensures accurate maintenance of patients' medical records, facilitates use of CPOE and data capture for meaningful use.
  • Independently assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided in department.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills of delegation, organization, coordination in managing assigned unit and appropriate assessment of staff skill set.
  • Trains staff to meet safety, quality and patient satisfaction standards to effect outcome measurements.
Physical Demands:
  • Employee must meet physical and mental requirements as identified by the physical activity evaluation form. The environment will be in a state of change and evolution; thus, a great deal of organizational stress can be expected. 
  • Current California RN license
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • LA City Fire card within 6 months of employment.
  • NIHSS Certification within 6 months of employment
  • Two years recent experience in specialty area.  Management experience preferred.
