Job Description

Job Title: Experienced RN - Registered Nurse - Hematology Oncology - Nights

Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Shift: Full-Time (36 hours/week) Nights (7p-7a)

Compensation:

  • Competitive total rewards package
  • $10,000 sign-on bonus available for new hires

Unit Overview:

  • 24-bed Hematology Oncology unit, including 6 stepdown beds
  • Focus on a variety of blood cancers, including Acute Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Multiple Myeloma
  • Longer patient stays allow for strong patient-family relationships
  • OU Health is Oklahoma's only National Cancer Institute (NCI) – Designated Cancer Center

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
  • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and changes in physician orders
  • Assist physicians in patient examinations and minor procedures
  • Obtain and monitor physiological data, intervening as necessary
  • Administer medications and manage intravenous infusions and blood products
  • Deliver competent patient care and communicate care plans with patients and families
  • Inform patients and families about hospital procedures
  • Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
  • Delegate tasks to support staff

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing school required; BSN preferred
  • Experience: Minimum one year of RN experience preferred; less than one year should apply for "RN Resident" positions
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or multistate compact RN License (eNLC)
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association upon hire
    • ACLS certification within one year of hire
    • Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration (ONS) certification within one year of hire
    • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate within three years of hire

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients
  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues
