Job Description

Our client is seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist to provide advanced, compassionate respiratory care for neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients, with exposure to adult and geriatric populations as needed. This role sits at the intersection of advanced clinical skill and human impact - supporting children and families during their most critical and vulnerable moments. This is a highly skilled, hands-on role for clinicians who thrive in high-acuity environments and want to make a meaningful impact on patients and families during critical moments of care. 


Location: Richmond, VA

What You’ll Do:
  • Initiate, manage, and monitor mechanical ventilation, including CPAP and BiPAP, and support patient transport and handoffs
  • Perform respiratory assessments, airway care, inhaled therapies, and patient/family education across pediatric populations
  • Assist with diagnostics such as blood gases, spirometry, and bronchoscopy, and respond to urgent clinical changes
  • Serve as a clinical resource or shift team leader when assigned, supporting safe, coordinated care delivery
Work Environment & Schedule:
  • Inpatient, hospital-based role supporting neonatal and pediatric critical care
  • Fast-paced, high-acuity setting with fluctuating workloads and complex patient needs
  • Rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays may be required based on assignment
  • Occasional participation in labor and delivery support or critical care transport, if assigned
Qualifications:
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist with current RRT (or CRT with RRT eligibility) and CPR certification
  • Eligible to pass the NBRC Registry Exam within 6 months of hire, if not already registered
  • Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred; new graduates and experienced therapists encouraged to apply
  • ACLS and/or PALS preferred for pediatric and critical care support
Professional Skills & Expectations:
  • Strong clinical judgment in ventilator management, airway care, and emergency response
  • Confidence working with critically ill pediatric patients and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
  • Organized, adaptable, and calm under pressure in high-stakes situations
  • Commitment to quality improvement, continuing education, and culturally responsive care
